The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by
many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of
paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have
‘walked’ before
us.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities
across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The
cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries,
tombstones and local lore.
I am pretty certain that this site was the home to a cache in the past--I seem to recall hitting this place a couple of late Octobers ago. At any rate, here we have an Anglo cemetery with 30 interments ranging from 184 to 1981. Laid to rest in this place are six members of the Farmer family, along with nine Thwings and sundry Sudduths, McLeods, and others that appear to have been related to the Farmers by marriage.
The site is fenced in and there is no official parking zone, but there is plentiful space in which to pull over. You need not enter the cemetery to make the find. As always,
any refinements to the listed coordinates are
welcomed.
