During my venturers days on numerous camps, I have met many extraordinary and unique people. Just as those days are coming to an end, on my very last camp as a venturer at Dragon Skin at VOC 3 Night 3, I somehow stumbled upon this one unique person I could not have dreamed of meeting. And I knew without scouting I would have never encountered such amazing people.
We met on the 5th of April 2015 under a gazebo tent by a fairy floss machine in the middle of Penrose State Forest. I remember it every now and then like it was yesterday. The more I thought about it, there were many ways we could've not bumped into each other. Especially if I had not gotten up to grab a fairy floss stick or that if she had not stopped by along the line and somehow encountered me. The space - time continuum is quite complex... We talked for ages about literally anything. Watched a bit of Toy Story 2, fetched a polystyrene cup filled with tea and sat by the fire. Never did I thought I would have grown this attached to a person I've known for not even a few hours. She was incredibly knowledgeable, loved to read and intelligent in all aspects of life. Outsmarted me as well... (bet you she doesn't know how superconductors work and Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity). It was hard to say goodbye, but we didn't lose contact of each other despite residing at opposite ends of the compass in Sydney. Scouting really does bring people together. As for now? I hope we'll see each other more often in Rovers and in the future.
