Geocache Description:

Monarch butterflies are temporary visitors to the Monterey Peninsula. They fly down, spend the winter, and fly away. This cache is place just outside their sanctuary.

Monarchs are very endangered as their chief food source, milkweed, is being destroyed as a weed in many parts of the United States and the world. You can help by NOT killing this weed if it is in your area. You can also plant monarch friendly/butterfly friendly plants. We want these visitors for a long time to come!
