Geocache Description:

This is a series based on the ancient Irish townland system and while the places chosen may seem a little random, they all mean something to me. The cache is placed as close as possible to the centre of the townland.

A small container with only a log so BYOP and parking is available nearby. Please return exactly where found.

The Townland of Ballintemple is in the Parish of Ballymyre in the Barony of Fews Upper in The County Of Armagh.
The name probably comes from the Gaelic name 'Baile an Teampuill' which means 'Town of the Church'.
It measures 2277.88 acres making it 4th largest townland in County Armagh and the 210th largest in Ireland.
It is bordered by Knockavannon, Cavanakill, Camly (Macullagh), Carrickacullion, Tullyvallan, Clady Beg and Aghincurk.
Features include St Lukes Parish Church Ballymoyer and Ballymoyer Orange Hall.

Ballintemple has been chosen because it is the townland where my family and I went to church. I was christened in Ballymoyer church at just a few weeks old and attended most Sundays until I was about eighteen. I was also a member of Synotts True Blues LOL 106 for a few years which met in the Orange hall and my brothers and I also used to run the odd party in the hall to entertain the local kids! Those were the days! My great grandfather and his family also lived in Ballintemple.
