In the Middle Ages, Kaunas was one of the largest ports in the region. Ships from foreign countries would bring large amounts of salt, iron, herring, various spices, and wine. From Kaunas, grains, wax, ashes, furs, leather, nuts (in barrels), and wooden crafts (such as spoons, troughs, sleds, and carts) were shipped out. In the mid-19th century, the dock was paved with cobblestones (under one of these stones is a geocache hidden). During the interwar period, several hundred thousand passengers used the services of private steamships annually, traveling from this spot to other cities. In 1980, the passenger dock was moved to Vilijampolė. In 2008, thanks to the efforts of entrepreneurs and the Kaunas City Municipality, the Daugirdas Amphitheater was built at the port site, where concerts, festivals, and other events take place. Why Daugirdas? Tadas Daugirdas was an archaeologist, painter, and one of the co-creators of the Lithuanian flag. A street named after him is located across from the amphitheater. We invite you to walk along this street to the Kaunas Town Hall, where you can visit the modern and interesting Kaunas City Museum. T. Daugirdas was once the director of this museum!

PLEASE. The geocache is under the stone. When you lift the stone, carefully remove the pipe lid — no force is needed. Gently take the geocache out of the pipe. You can use your fingers, or a pen or twig. After signing, return the geocache to the pipe, put the lid back on, and place the stone on top.

Viduramžiais Kaunas buvo vienas didžiausių regiono uostų, į miestą atplaukdavo daug druskos, geležies, silkių, įvairių prieskonių, vyno. O iš Kauno būdavo išplukdomi grūdai, vaškas, pelenai, kailiai, odos, riešutai (statinėse), medžio dirbiniai (šaukštai, geldos, rogės, vežimai). XIX a. vid. krantinė buvo išgrįsta tašytais akmenimis (po tokiu vienu akmeniu yra paslėptas geo-lobis). Tarpukariu keli šimtai tūkstančių keleivių per metus naudodavosi privačių garlaivių paslaugomis, iš šios vietos jais plaukdavo į kitus miestus. 1980 m. keleivinė prieplauka perkelta į Vilijampolę. 2008 m. verslininkų ir Kauno miesto savivaldybės pastangomis uosto vietoje įrengtas Daugirdo amfiteatras, kur vyksta koncertai, šventės ir kiti irenginiai. Kodėl Daugirdo? Tadas Daugirdas - archeologas, dailininkas, vienas iš Lietuvos vėliavos autorių. Jo vardu pavadinta gatvė, esanti priešais amfiteatrą. Kviečiame keliauti šia gatve iki Kauno Rotušės, kur šiandien yra įsikūręs modernus ir įdomus Kauno miesto muziejus. Juk anksčiau T. Daugirdas buvo šio muziejaus direktorius!
SVARBU. Būkite ypač atsargūs, jei netoliese lobio yra žmonių. Jei reikia, sugrįžkite vėliau.
PRAŠOME. Lobis yra po akmeniu. Pakėlę akmenį, atsargiai nuimkite vamzdžio dangtelį — jėgos naudoti nereikia. Atsargiai išimkite lobį iš vamzdžio. Galite naudoti pirštus, tušinuką arba šakelę. Pasirašę, grąžinkite lobį į vamzdį, uždėkite dangtelį ir padėkite akmenį atgal ant viršaus.
