From the parking off Fairview Road follow the yellow blazes steeply up the driveway and turn left into the woods. The trail continues to climb. Then it levels off for a little while and decends. You will pass a side trail to Welkenweir and cross a creek. Mixed among the climax trees in the woods is a cherry tree. Typically in the forest, the cherry cannot show its beauty and grace as it struggles for space and sunlight among the larger trees.
