This is a tale of a wise fairy called Ellie Swan, designer of the traditional Fairy Bridge. Ellie Swans' first attempt at a bridge, was the Fairy Bridge in Kewaigue, her second, and more well known, is the Fairy Bridge in Santon. After constucting these two bridges she wanted to expand her horisons, travelling to new and far distant lands.
Ellie Swan set off to the Isle of Skye where she married the MacLeod Chief, and constructed the somewhat larger Fairy Bridge, located three miles from Dunvegan Castle. This is the site where some tales place the final moments between the MacLeod Chief and his fairy wife, Ellie Swan, before she left him to build more bridges. As the story goes, she gave him the Fairy Flag before her departure, promising that it had the power to relieve him of danger and distress when he waved it.
After travelling many miles and years, meeting lots of new Fae, Goblins, Gnomes and Trolls, and seeing their constructions, The Rainbow Bridge in Utah, the Snake Bridge in New Mexico, Hazarchishma Natural Bridge in Afghanistan, and Yunmentum Bridge in China.
Having seen these beautiful bridges, Ellie Swan used ideas and methods from all she had learnt and constructed her most magnificent bridge to date, Xianren Bridge in a remote location in China, so she could work without distraction.
Having built this bridge Ellie Swan journeyed back to the land of her birth to tell her Fae friends of her tales and show off her new knowledge. When she attempted to build something similar at Langness it was nowhere near as spectacular as she found she was drained of her powers. mocked and shamed by her Fae friends and ashamed to show her face, wise Ellie Swan retreated to a secluded place and built her home on a small rocky beach sheltered by trees. Here Ellie Swan overlooked one of her fellow Feas original attempts at a river crossing.
Ellie Swan left behind one cryptic clue to her location;
