Welcome to Mille Lacs and Garrison! My family has been spending summer vacations near here for 40 years and loving the fishing and camping. When I started geocaching, I couldn't believe there wasn't a cache in this location!
This location has had a lot of work done in recent years to preserve and improve the area to keep it around for many years to come. While you are here, stop by for a photo opportunity with the walleye! Garrison is, after all, the Walleye Capitol of The World! ;) The Garrison Concourse was constructed in 1936-1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, one of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal initiatives to counter the financial and emotional trials of the Great Depression. The concourse is considered one of the finest ever built in MN. It extends 180 feet into the lake, over 330 feet along the lakeshore, and 12+ feet above the water. I have many photos here with my family growing up. This is also a great spot to stop to stretch your legs on a long trip, and a great spot to see the great Mille Lacs Lake!! There is some world class fishing on this lake! If you're around on the fourth of July, we love watching the fireworks display over the lake from this area! *Be respectful of the area and DO NOT CLIMB ON THE FISH. *Please close tight and replace in the same spot so it won't be muggled!! *USE stealth, as this area can be very busy at times.
