Geocache Description:

A unique cache in Leesburg's Olde Izaak Walton Park

Olde Izaak Walton Park is a nice wooded refuge of 21 acres in Leesburg. With a 3 1/2 acre pond, it attracts not only woodland birds but also a variety of ducks, geese, herons and more. A stream that runs through the park and into the pond attracts kingfishers which can be heard rattling off their call. The park has a walking trail that runs around the pond that is nice for a nature stroll. Of special interest is an old quarry that in springtime may capture water and serve as a vernal pool for amphibians. Bring your binoculars and check out what's wild. There is also a dog park here. www.leesburgdogs.com/ Hours: Open dawn to dusk. Facilities: Restrooms may be available when the building is open. **************************************************************************************** Parking is available at the main entrance but it would be wiser to park at the back lot if you don't want to walk a ways. Please respect park rules and help keep NoVa beautiful by CITO! This is a unique cache that hopefully will make you really think. Please don't remove cache from it's mounts and please replace exactly as found. There is minimal bush wacking needed and it's literally a step off the path. Smaller children may need an adults help with this one. Room for log book only so BYOP!
