This cache is located near the top of what is known locally as Six Mile Hill. The road was at one time on the Stagecoach line from Liverpool to Annapolis. The hill was Six miles from from the lower bridge across the Mersey in Milton. Most areas on Route #8 are measured from this spot. At one time there was a rock near the site of the cache with a Roman Numeral 6 of VI carved into it. The rock is no longer here, it was relocated to the Blacksmith shop museum in Milton by the same bridge where the mileage began.
When I was a young boy there was a man who lived across the road from my grandparents, he was one of the last stagecoach drivers on the line to Annapolis. I used to love his stories of the trips to North Queens with the coach and horses. I used to get my father to stop and see the rock every time we went by this spot on the hill. Now it is my turn to share it with you.
