Located outside the historic, downtown Centralia fire station. The Centralia Fire Department has been in existence for over 100 years and was first organized on May 15, 1890 as a volunteer fire company. The first fully-paid fire department went into service July 22,1908. In 2008, the Centralia Fire Department merged with Lewis County Fire District 12 to form the Riverside Fire Authority.
To find this geocache, one must pay tribute to Centralia Fire Department Chief Thomas Cunningham who died in the line of duty June 24, 1920. His memorial reads "We remember him, a courageous man worthy of our respect. Representive of all who answer the last alarm."
