Old Gravois Road has many segments in use and not in use between Fenton and Cedar Hill. The Village of Murphy, this stretch between Fenton and High Ridge, was named for the John Murphy family who were Irish immigrants that settled in the area around 1850. This area is still known as Murphy Flats or The Flats, by locals. The now much traveled New Sugar Creek Road and Hawkins Road were mere dirt paths until the 1940's. For more information on Old Gravois Road, check out a book titled "Along Old Gravois With A Detour or Two" by Della Lang. Fascinating stuff.
Note: You can pull off the road here but be careful because this is a busy area.
