You might not believe it but apparently it's summer at the moment, so it felt long overdue to have a cachers' meet-up or summat in Skipton. Offcumdens are very welcome too!
Whether you're new to caching, or as wise as Old Amos, come and meet other local cachers, have a chat and a drink, swap stories and trackables, and of course gain your Geocaching Road Trip '15 Event Souvenir.
Place: The Black Horse, 16-18 High Street, Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 1JZ
Date: Sunday 5th July 2015
Time: Between 3-5pm, but stay for as long or as little as you like. Come earlier or stay later, but I'll be there between at least those times.
The Black Horse is a large pub so there'll be room for all who can make it, but I've reserved the area on the left-hand-side at the very back of the pub, next to the little terrace which overlooks the canal. Dogs are welcome!
The area has room for well over 30 people and there are toys there too for any families with geokids.
If it's sunny, people might like to sit out on the adjoining terrace but I couldn't actually reserve tables there.
Links to the Black Horse's website: http://www.thekingsfeast.co.uk/black-horse and its menus: http://www.thekingsfeast.co.uk/black-horse/Menus . Food is served all day and, if you'd like to order food in advance, the pub's supervisor said it must be done by 3rd July.
Skipton, Sceptone or "Sheep Town" in old Saxon, is a beautiful ancient market town at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales.
There are many excellent caches and caching walks in and around the town, and on the day of the event - with great thanks to Lowin - several new caches will come live too. Also - if all goes to plan - I should have one or two of my own appearing.
Skipton is easy to get to by bus, train, bicycle, narrowboat, foot or car (and has several car parks), but note that Sunday 5th July is the annual Sheep Day in Skipton when the High Street will be closed to traffic for Sheep Day events and the town will be atmospheric but busy.
If you'd like to take part in an FTF competition for this event cache, bring along something wool or sheep related and I'll ask a local muggle in the Black Horse to choose the winner (idea borrowed from trebor nosnwot, thanks Rob).
Please do say if you plan to attend and I hope to see you here!
