This is a series based on the ancient Irish townland system and while the places chosen may seem a little random, they all mean something to me. The cache is placed as close as possible to the centre of the townland.
A micro container with only a log so BYOP and parking is available nearby. Please return exactly where found.
The Townland of Corhammock is in the Parish of Kilclooney in the Barony of Fews Lower in The County Of Armagh.
The name probably comes from the Gaelic name 'Corr Chamoige' which means 'Round hill of the bend'.
It measures 328.06 acres making it the 328th largest townland in County Armagh.
It is bordered by Edenykennedy, Dinnahorra, Maghnavery, Kilbracks and Cordrummond.
Features include Kilcluney Orange Hall.
Corhammock has been chosen because it is the townland where my Dad's older brother moved to and where his family grew up. He owned a small farm in the west of the townland and we would often have been there during the summer to give a hand during hay and silage season. Good memories.
