Geocache Description:

Please DO NOT approach from hospital. This cache is only approachable from the walking path.

For centuries, Medical Lake was known as "skookum limechin chuch", or strong medicine water, due to its healing properties by the Spokane and Colville Indians. The local tribes would harvest salt or steam water from the lake for their sick to breath to cure them of their illnesses.

In the late 1800s, Lord Stanley Hallett of England purchased a large amount of land along the lake, and started a salt and soap company based on the lake's healing properties. His Medical Lake Soap was sold as a "cure-all" and gained vast popularity. By 1904, advertisements were seen as far as Chicago and New York, calming Medial Lake Soap and Medical Lake Tablets could cure all illnesses, including gout, rheumatism, kidney and liver complaints, eczema, dandruff, sunburn, mosquito bites and sunburns.
