I was told that if I build it they will come, so the St George and Surrounds Geocachers are holding their first event:
Date: Saturday 15th August 2015
Time: 15:00 - 17:00
Group Photo: 16:00
Location: Peter Depena Reserve, Dolls Point
Celebrating: International Geocaching Day
Weather: The event will not be cancelled! Think positive thoughts.
Still in the St George area but close enough to The Shire that we may have some visitors from over the bridge. Park in the noted parking places or plan a bike ride for the afternoon and enjoy the sparkling bay by bike. Public transport (by bus) options are also available. The park is kid friendly, has toilets, and plenty of space for ball games.
To celebrate the event I'll bring some (nearly good for you) cupcakes/muffins and would encourage others to bring something similarly festive to share. Please post your will attend so I know how many to bake! And could I ask attendees to bring hot water and mugs/cups so we can have tea and coffee. I'll bring regular tea but if you have anything more interesting to try, do bring it along. For coffee addicts, there is a cafe nearby but no guarantees of quality or opening hours.
For those that would like a pre-meet lunch, you have the option of a couple of cafes and the lovely 16ft sailing club.
As a neat extra, by attending this event (which conveniently falls between July 3 and September 2), you'll get your digital souvenir for the Geocaching Road Trip.
Also, with the archiving of the Hancock Clan's Botany Bay By Bike series, this part of the world is a little short on caches. Perhaps we could take this opportunity to discuss coming up with something new in the area?
Feel free to drop trackables in the lead up to the event as we'll have a swap and discovery area.
