New Park for U Traditional Cache

This cache is hidden in a new park that just opened in Foster City. The park is along the Bay Trail that is used everyday by walkers, runners, bikers, rollerbladers, dog walkers ... you name it! The park features nice picnic tables, bathrooms and drought-resistant landscaping.  Very nice use of what used to be a large open dirt patch along Beach Park Blvd, not too far from Bowditch Middle School.

I often ride my bike along the Bay Trail Path and have long wondered when something would be done with this large patch of unused dirt. Construction started months ago, but steady progress was made and just recently the park was opened. I started scouting a location for the cache about a week ago and finally came up with the idea. Not a particularly difficult hide, but with the park so new, I thought it deserved a cache.

This is a great place for bird watching, rabbit watching, bay watching or just finding some peace and quiet. Windy? Well, it depends on the month! We are known for wind on the Bay Trail (that's why Foster City is a mecca for kite boarders and windsurfers). Windiest months are April - Oct, but that should not deter you. The picnic tables are nice and there are plenty of them. Great place for families.

The new park does not sport a name yet, but I just called Parks & Rec and was told that is going to be called Shorebird Park.
