Kragero School got its name from the people in the area who had immigrated from Kragero, Norway. Norwegian immigrants decided there was a need for a school and Kragero was established in Santiago township in 1897. It first served as a school and church.
School was in session for five months the first year. The teacher's wages were $100 the first year. After the school closed in the late 1960's, the school was used for local 4-H club The Kragero Kangaroos (in the 1970's and 1980's). The school bell from Kragero is on display at the Becker Intermediate School.
