Fotball-VM: FIFA arrangerer VM i fotball for menn hvert fjerde år. Det første mesterskapet ble arrangert i Uruguay i 1930, og siden har det blitt arrangert hver gang, unntatt i 1942 (2. verdenskrig) og 1946 (krigsrekonvalesens). Fram til nå (2015) har Brasil med sine 5 titler vunnet flest ganger, og Brasil er dessuten det eneste landet som har deltatt hver gang.

Norge har deltatt i tre sluttspill, og gjorde sitt beste mesterskap i 1998 da de kom til åttendedelsfinalen. I grunnspillet slo de Brasil 2-1 i den legendariske kampen i Marseille. Brasil ble senere sølvvinnere i mesterskapet.

FIFA World Cup: FIFA World Cup in football is arranged every four years. The first championship was held in Uruguay in 1930, and it has since been arranged each time, except in 1942 (World War II) and 1946 (war recovery). Until now (2015), Brazil is the most-winning country with 5 titles, and Brazil is also the only country that has participated in every championship.

Norway has participated three times, and did their best championship in 1998 when they reached the round of 16 playoffs. In the gruop stage Norway beat Brazil 2-1 in the legendary match in Marseille. Brazil won the silver medal later in the championship.
