Road Trip 15 #2 Sovernir
This is our 1st geocaching event to meet all our local geocahers and help everyone get their second sovernir of their road trip.
Meeting at the Brown Cow Pub Burrs Country Park, on the 17th August, Woodhill Rd, Bury, Lancashire BL8 1DA between 6.30pm -7.30pm
No set agenda, bring along any travel bugs, geocoins and some fun geocache stories.
Lets chill, chat and have a drink in the Brown Cow Pub.
Plenty of geocaches in the park to find if you have time .
Burrs Country Park is overlooked by Castlesteads, a raised area where a settlement was established in pre-Roman times.
Burrs is one of Bury's earliest industrial sites notable for its use of water and its association with the Peel Family. Although many of the buildings which once made up the two mill communities at Burrs and Higher Woodhill have now gone, enough remains to give an interesting insight into manufacturing technology and life in the early nineteenth century.
The earliest surviving building at Burrs is the Brown Cow Public House, which was built as a farm in 1752 before the Industrial Revolution took hold in Lancashire.
GEOCACHER CHALLENGE - Who's Who? Why not try our Geocacher challenge whilst you are at the event!! We will provide name badges for all those that have confirmed attendance prior to the event. Each name badge will have a number for you to seek out. So you can put faces to names, the challenge will be to find the corresponding number for each geocacher by mingling at the event, introducing yourself and requesting the geocachers number. The event FTF will go to the first person to match all the corresponding numbers on the sheet - which will be published on the event page. In the event that nobody completes the challenge, the FTF will go to the geocacher with the most correct answers - What better way to meet new geocachers on the day :) Please let us know of your attendance below, looking forward to meeting you all
