Terminal Island is a single stage kayak cache placed near the head of navigation on the gentle Bungay River. The cache is on an island that splits the stream just below the end of the line where the river channel is completely blocked by two fallen trees Though it looked possible to haul the kayaks over the trunks, we could see more blow-downs lurked just around the corner, so we headed back, placing the cache nearby. The easiest way to locate the cache is to spot the island near the coords, confirm the location with a peek at the downed trees, and then circle the island. The cache is a large micro, in plain sight but not from the main channel, tethered to a tree branch: log only, BYOP You can retrieve the log from your boat, just twist off the black cap leaving the tube in place and sign in. It's about a 5 mile round trip on this interesting river which twists and turns through the swamp, narrowing in spots but open the whole way. Except for the occasional hum from nearby Rt 95, the area feels very remote with few signs of habitation once past the start. Give yourself a couple hours to do this one and pick a nice day. Don't forget the PFD, water and bug spray. Have fun.
