Small Caches
South Jersey has much to offer including some way side stops with views of nature. This might be one of those stops.
Placed along a busy highway with thousands of shore-bound travelers passing by every weekend during the summer, this secluded spot probably remains unknown to most. But, you, because you are an intrepid fan of geocaching, will get to see what many miss.
This picture shows a happy cacher who seems to have just found this cache. The container is right there under her nose. With a small cache like this bison tube, the paper logs often get mangled by folks just stuffing the log into the larger section of the tube and then forcing the lid down into the threads.
A better way to replace the log in a bison is to roll up the log tightly, insert it in the cap as shown here and then place the rolled log into the tube. Once the nicely rolled log is in the tube, tightening the cap of the bison without damaging the log is an easy task.
Many of you already know about this, but we have opened several thousand bison tubes and several hundred of those had crumpled, torn logs. Hopefully, this friendly hint will extend the life of at least a few bison tube logs.
Have fun caching in South Jersey; we do.
