CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS
Old Paisley Hotel site, Napanee
The Paisley hotel, a late 19th century brick structure which faced the Market Square stood on this site until 2006. In 1882,
Sir John A. Macdonald ran as a candidate in Lennox. In the early midnight hours of June 13th, Sir John and Lady Macdonald arrived by train at the Grand Trunk Station.
They were escorted by private carriage and the Cornet Band to the Paisley Hotel
where they stayed during their week long campaign in Lennox preceding the election. On the day of the election, June 20th, Macdonald waited at the hotel until his victory was certain.
