Turn off here to take the Horahora Kakahu Rd to beautiful Horahora Kakahu Island.
There is a sign pointing to the island, for all the world looking like a road sign. Don't drive that way!
Note that the section of road from Underwood and White's Bay is unsealed. Best avoided when wet as it can get quite slippery. When dry this is an excellent road. This route from Blenheim to Picton can take 2-3 times longer than the direct route along SH1. More if you are caching along the way!
