SOYBEANS:
- Iowa is the largest soybean producer in the United States.
- In 2014, Iowa soybean farmers grew almost 506 million bushels of soybeans on 9.8 million acres of land.
- Nearly 72 percent of all biodiesel produced in Iowa in 2012 was produced from soybean oil.
- One acre of soybeans can make 82,368 crayons.
- A natural emulsifier and lubricant called lecithin is extracted from soybeans and used in pharmaceuticals and in your favorite candy bars to keep the chocolate and cocoa butter from separating.
