Geocache Description:

WHEN:

Saturday 15th August 2015

WHERE:

Morecambe Jetty (near The Midland)

TIME:

7:30pm - Sunset (Estimated time of sunset is 8:42pm this day) or longer if you wish!

Following the success of this event last year we decided we would like to try and make it a yearly tradition for International Geocaching Day. Last year we had 125 attendees - can you help us beat that?

The Jetty at Morecambe offers some fantastic sunsets looking over the beautiful Lake District. This event will give cachers the opportunity to take photos of the sunset, meet other cachers, swap TBs/coins and of course gain their event Geocaching Road Trip Souvenir whilst lighting up the Jetty with our Jam Jars filled with fairies (please do not bring Chinese lanterns as we do not want to cause any harm to the environment or animals).

Cachers should meet on the Jetty. We would like you to bring you own JAM JAR to the event so we can LIGHT UP THE JETTY at sunset (you don't have to have a jam jar to attend.)

Due to windy conditions at last year's event, we decided to try and come up with a better way to keep our jam jars lit throughout the whole duration of the event. Rather than struggling to keep a tealight lit, this year we would like you to capture some fairy dust to help us light the jetty up (no fairies were harmed during this research or at the event). NOTE you should create your fairy dust at the event to allow your lantern to stay lit for the duration of the event. Please bring with you everything you need in order to do this. WE WILL BE MAKING OUR JAM JAR LANTERNS WHEN WE ARRIVE. We will try and bring spare glow sticks, scissors and glitter - just in case.

Please see the picture below to find out how you can capture your fairies to light the jetty up and celebrate International Geocaching Day with us!

As this event is outside and it can be quite windy at times on the jetty, please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather, but fingers crossed it will be a warm sunny evening! This event will still run if it's raining, we will take shelter on the jetty and hopefully we will get to see the sunset this year.

Please ensure if you are bringing children that they are with a reponsible adult who can use scissors to cut a glow stick for their jam jar fairy dust and they remain under your supervision at all times.  We will not be held responsible for any accidents or injuries which may occur at the result of creating your jam jar lanterns. Please take your lanterns home with you afterwards, or you could even swap with other cachers as a souvenir!
