Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of caches placed along the Chicago Lakefront Trail. It is a tree hide overlooking the crushed limestone lakefront pathway and Lake Michigan. Be wary of muggles!

The Terrain and Difficulty combination on this are very appropriate!

This is only for great tree climbers who aren't afraid of heights! Do not try if you think you shouldn't be climbing trees.

This is only for great tree climbers who aren't afraid of heights and have some strength. Do not try if you think you shouldn't do this. You could very easily break a leg/arm/neck if you aren't a climber. I'm placing this because Chicago needs more more T/D hides than just 1.5-2's all over the place.

I ran a 5K the day I placed this hide and love running this trail - minus the huge puddles.

This cache is part of a series of caches placed along the Chicago Lakefront Trail. Per Wikipedia: “The Chicago Lakefront Trail (abbreviated as LFT) is a foreshoreway for walking and cycling, running 18-mile (29 km) along the coast of Lake Michigan in Chicago, Illinois. The path connects various beaches and recreational amenities located along the lake front and also serves as an option to bicycle commuters.

The trail is located wholly within the Chicago city limits and spans from 7100 South/2560 East to 5800 North/1000 West. It is a dedicated-use path, although frequent intersections do pose a threat to path users. These intersections are clearly signed both to path users and motorists. From north to south, it runs through Lincoln Park, Grant Park, Burnham Park and Jackson Park.” Maps of the Chicago Lakefront Trail are available at this link: (visit link)

This series is not intended to be a “numbers run” (though it could certainly be one), but instead an opportunity for you to enjoy both geocaching and the city’s beautiful lakefront. The caches range in type of container, difficulty and terrain. Bring your own writing instrument. Plan to have a surface to write one while you're in the air - unless you want to be a squirrel twice or play catch with a buddy.

Notes: 1) Please adhere to park hours and rules. 2) Please recycle! 3) Please, please leave the cache container in the location and condition you found it. It is attached to the tree in an eco friendly way and is not intended to be removed. Please don't try to remove it or cut it off.

Enjoy the great views, wonderful bike trail and fun caching along the LFT! Happy caching.
