Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.

You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.**

Geocache Description:

The routes between the West Riding and Lancashire through the Standedge
gap laid the foundations for the prosperity of the South Pennine villages.
Follow in the footsteps of those who made and used these routes as you
explore our CROSSING THE PENNINES Heritage Trail.

Slaithwaite Reservoir was constructed to supply water to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal - a major engineering project. Its Standedge Tunnel was cut through the hills with assistance from Thomas Telford.  Spare a thought for the hard lives of the navvies who built the canal and then the railway with its spectacular Slawit viaduct...
