Jesse James and Bonnie & Clyde:
- On July 21, 1873, Jesse James and his gang of outlaws derailed and robbed their first train, a few miles west of Adair, Iowa.
- This was the first train robbery of the west.
- The James gang thought they would collect over $100,000, but a cash delivery for banks had been transfered to a different trian.
- The gang pocketed $2,337.
- On July 24, 1933, Bonnie and Clyde Barrow's gang was camping near Dexter, Iowa, when the Dallas County Sheriff attempted to capture them, resulting in the largest gun fight in Dallas County history.
- Almost every member of the gang was wounded during the fight.
- Buck Barrow, Clyde's brother, and his wife Blanche were captured.
- Buck Barrow died 4 days later at a hospital in Perry, Iowa.
