Dan gable & Wrestling:
- Wrestling is one of the major sports of Iowa high schools and colleges, often outshining basketball programs.
- Dan Gable is Iowa's most famous wrestler. He lost only one match in his entire collegiate career and won a gold medal in the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics. He went on to coach the University of Iowa wrestling program and several US Olympic teams.
- Jake Varner is the latest in a long string of wrestlers from Iowa to win an olympic medal, winning gold at the 2012 London Games.
