Professional Football:

• Iowa has been the birthplace to over 300 major league football players, and currently the NFL roster includes at lest 33 players that had played for just the University of Iowa.
• Ed Thomas, the late coach of Aplington-Parkersburg High School, coached 4 NFL players when they were in high school, the most per-capita of any high school in the nation.
• Kurt Warner is Iowa's football version of a rags-to-riches story. After college he was not drafted and worked minimum wage in a grocery store before playing Arena League and moving to the NFL, where he became a Super Bowl champion quarterback.
• Dallas Clark grew up in Iowa and played for the University of Iowa before beoming a tight end for the Indianapolis Colts, becoming a Super Bowl champion in the team's first Super Bowl since before he was born. Those unfamiliar with football but familiar with Iowa wine may know his vineyard and tasting room in Algona, Iowa.
