• Agribusiness: the growth and production of crops and livestock. Iowa leads the nation in corn, egg, pork, and soybean production, and is a top producer of beef, turkey, and dairy products.
• Manufacturing. Well-known items like Pella Windows, Amana-Whirlpool, Maytag and John Deere, to auto part manufacturing.
• Renewable Energies: ethanol and biodiesel production and wind energy are major industries in Iowa.
• Insurance and Financial. Des Moines is the third largest insurance capital in the world and is the 5th highest concentration of financial service jobs in the nation.
• Information and Communication Technology. Iowa is home to many data centers for large tech companies and thousands of IT and computer programmer professionals are employed around the state.
