Kakamatua is supposedly one of Aucklands top dog walking beaches!! So why not bring your Geodog along for the ride, i'm sure they'll love you for it!
Parking is located just off Huia road approx 200 meters past the Cornwallis Road turn off. From there it's a short walk throught the bush (on a track) before making it out into the open and off you'll head towards the beach.
I will advise that a small amount of wading is required to get you to the GZ - depending on if the tide is in or out will determine on how deep this will be (nothing to major though, max should be around knee hight, so gumboots could come in handy or whip those socks off and go barefoot - and your dogs will enjoy the swim).
I wanted to make this cache a little more difficult and interesting than previous ones. I haven't stumbled across one of these in NZ yet - but they may possibly be out there somewhere.
