Geocache Description:

THE MUGLINS is a group of rocks that are east of dalkey Island , these form a danger to shipping and are fitted with a distinctive beacon , there is a great view to the beacon from the island also from the mainland along dalkey and another lovely view from above in the hills of killiney , at gz you will get a great view to dalkey island , but to see the MUGLINS you will have to go up to the top of the hill to the obelisk. ( couldn't fit one up there due to 161m restrictions from other hides in the park) .

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So let's begin - you are now in the killiney park , car park

At the page co-ords you will see a stone plaque on ground level with the inscription " DALKEY COMMUNITY COUNCIL " from there walk in towards the trees , the second right should lead you to a set of steps that lead up to killiney NDB ( non-directional beacon ) which is used as an aviation navigational aid .

you should now be facing a black / white sign behind the fence with the heading " AIRCRAFT SAFETY AID " Stand facing the sign and go in the direction - left towards the telegraph tower .

now you should be at the gateway of the telegraph tower( well worth checking out ) , do not enter the grounds but go right to the corner of the wall and go round to the left at the corner , there in front of you should be a large Boulder of rock (dont climb it but it is a great spot for taking pics)

don't cross over the Boulder but go right and go down and down and down until u arrive at a rusty railings.

Enclosed within the rusty railing is a name you seek , look for THOMAS . With your back to the rusty railings walk forward 10m to an outcrop of boulders ( be careful the rocks are slippy after wet weather) , standing there you should look down to find the single large white Boulder a few Meters lower down and what your looking for is tucked nicely away at the base . You will have to climb down and step through some nasty growth - brambles , nettles and gorse bushes .
