Geocache Description:

This earthcache is located in Inverness at Henderson lake. Being that this is an earthcache, there is no physical container to find. To get your smiley for the cache, e-mail your answers for the questions below to the cache owner BEFORE you log a found it.

Answers MUST be sent PRIOR to logging your find or your log will be deleted!

The lakes in Inverness are part of a beautiful area which boasts a variety of habitat types that are found throughout this combonation lake area. Inverness provides scenic lakes, seasonal marshes, and scrubby flatwoods. While hiking through the diverse habitats, bald eagles can be spotted fishing for meals in the lake, and local scrub-jays seen foraging in the scrubby flatwoods.

Lakes can be categroized on the basis of their richness in nutrients, which typically affect plant growth. Nutrient-poor lakes are said to be oligotrophic and are generally clear, having a low concentration of plant life. Mesotrophic lakes have good clarity and an average level of nutrients. Eutrophic lakes are enriched with nutrients, resulting in good plant growth and possible algal blooms. Hypertrophic lakes are bodies of water that have been excessively enriched with nutrients. These lakes typically have poor clarity and are subject to devastating algal blooms.
