Geocache Description:

How about a little twist on the usual? As with all mystery caches, the container is not at the posted coordinates, so there is no need to visit that spot. But those coordinates are significant because they are the foundation you will use to determine exactly where the container is actually hiding. Look farther down the cache page for details.

Presented below is a True or False quiz comprised of eight Canadian Trivia questions. Your answers for the quiz will help you narrow down the search area. How? Read on, my friends.

First, let's look at the posted coordinates and identify which digits need to be changed using this illustration:
N 49 20.823     W 123 15.831
N 49 2A.BCD   W 123 1E.FGH

For each of the questions below, if you believe the correct answer is "True", add 1 to the corresponding digit. If you believe the correct answer is "False", subtract 1 from the corresponding digit. For example, if you think the answer to question B is "True" then B=9. "False" would mean B=7.

Read the wording of each question carefully. Your potential margin of error for an incorrect answer is:
Third decimal – about 2 metres
Second decimal – about 22 metres
First decimal – about 220 metres
     Minutes – 2.2 kilometres
So, if you were to get every answer wrong your coordinates could be out by as much as FIVE kilometres!

Good luck! (There is a geocheck that contains valuable info below the questions)
  • A. William Lyon Mackenzie King was Canada’s longest-serving Prime Minister.
  • B. There are no lighthouses in Saskatchewan.
  • C. There are more universities per capita in Nova Scotia than any other province.
  • D. The sport of basketball was invented in Canada.
  • E. Just one percent of the water in the Great Lakes comes from precipitation.
  • F. The island of Newfoundland has no skunks, porcupine, or deer.
  • G. Canada officially became an independent country in 1867.
  • H. The Blue Jay is the official bird of Ontario.
