This park has a monument commemorating the capture and subsequent escape of a New Hampshire woman during the French and Indian War in 1697. She and her aunt were captured by members of the Abnaki tribe. They walked for 15 days before meeting another group that included more captives. Hannah led a “rebellion” and led the captured people back to their homes. (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=4667)
