At this state park in Hart’s location you can see the site of a historic landslide in 1826 that killed nine people but spared the famous Willey House. The heavy rains and flooding created a landslide. The Willey family and their hired help ran from their house into a stone outbuilding that they thought would be safe. The outbuilding was destroyed but ironically their house remained untouched.
