This cache is dedicated to local farmer and resident Bill Wasson (1915-2004) who farmed south of this cache and grazed his cattle on this land. He lived and farmed in the area since the 1940's. The cache is a medium LnL container located along “Millennium Trail” in the Ghost Waiparous Trail System. This trail system was set up and is maintained by volunteers from the SV of Waiparous and surrounding area. Please obey all rules and be a good steward by using the trails responsibly.
The area is steeped in history. The First Nations considered it an important winter hunting ground and the Simpson and Palliser Expeditions of 1841 and 1858 mention the area. In the past 100 years, farming, ranching, and logging by the Eau Claire lumber company all emerged. The cabin communities of Waiparous and Benchlands were built along the newly constructed Forestry Trunk Road in the 1950’s and 1960’s.
