Geocache Description:

Stanley is a lovely and relax place both for visitors and local citizens. Why not share the beautiful scenery there with your friends by sending a post card at the Stanley Post Office?

The Stanley Post Office was opened in 1937 and is now the Hong Kong's oldest post office still in service in its original building. The post office itself is single-storey with a pitched roof supported on timber trusses and boards. It has little decoration except for the ornamental window grilles with the King George VI's "GR" (George Rex) emblem on them.

In order to extend its serviceable life of the building, renovation works was carried out in 2007. This restoration work was also part of Hong Kong Post Office's programme of celebrations for its 70th Anniversary.

If you want to see the only extant red cast-iron post box engraved with King George VI's emblem, or the manual brass stamp dispensers which are very hard to find, head for Stanley Post Office.
