Midpoint (Shoetree) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

geogym4: Six years, one month and 21 days is long enough for any cache to exist. It actually ended a couple weeks ago when the fire swept through the area and burned up the container. If this one comes back, it will be rising from the ashes of the fire like a
Phoenix. Sorry to see you go, old friend. Geogym4

Geocache Description:

This cache along US Highway 20 in mile 90 is at the midpoint of my route between Boise and Salem, Oregon.

When I placed the cache, there was a tree full of shoes that was an obvious attraction in this relatively desolate area. I am not sure who cut all the limbs off the tree. Too bad, it was a neat break in the scenery here. There is a pair of boots someone has hung on a dead tree just west of the mile 88 marker. Maybe it will put on more footwear in the coming years. There is a tree beside Highway 50 between Grand Junction and Delta, Colorado (nearly the only tree visible) that is always decorated at Christmas. These trees reminded me of it.

The cache is a plastic tube that is painted brown.  It is at the base of a wood post that has a split top to bottom and is close to a steel post about a 100 feet East of the de-limbed shoetree. You can probably find this without the GPSr if necessary. You may need your own writing stick if the one in it disappears again.
