CH - Berean Bible College Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cache Effect: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

More lost Calgary history - amazingly all traces of what originally was built on the tract of land that is bordered by 32nd Avenue to the north, 31st Avenue to the south, 4th Street NE on the west and 2nd Street NW to the east have completely disappeared.

Originally built here in the late 40/early 50's was the Berean Bible College plus a retail building facing 2nd Street NW on the eastern part of these lands - in the late 70's the retail building occupied by Copenhagen Fair, a Danish/Scandinavian furnishings store and it's latter years, it became a Loblaw's grocery store. The school closed down in 1986 and shortly afterwards, all traces of any structures on this block were removed and redeveloped into what you see today. More information about the Berean Bible College can be found at this link.

This cache is a camouflaged and repurposed container that is something that might have been awarded at this college, it will only have space for a small log - you will have to bring your own pen or pencil as this cache is too small to contain any type of writing instrument. It will probably be able to accommodate only the smallest trackables and/or tradeables - please use stealth when retrieving this geocache so as to remain unseen by any nearby muggles.

There is plenty of parking available on the nearby streets. Please also ensure that you leave this geocache in the spot you found it - do not relocate/reposition this cache as it may make this cache more visible to muggles.

The aerial pictures below were taken 1975-1978...

For those that are interested in Calgary history, this link will open up a new browser with a very large aerial picture of Calgary from right around 1950-1951 - this was stitched together from 200 separate aerial shots.
