There is a parking spot on the northern side beside a small dam. Careful with the youngsters, as cars come over the hill at a decent clip.
The settlement at Richardsons Point was gazetted as the village of Windeyer in 1859. It was named after either Charles Windeyer, a prominent Sydney magistrate, or his son Richard, an agricultural pioneer and barrister. In 1853 it had three inns, three stores and a collection of stringy bark huts and tents. A school, church, police station, post office and cricket club were also in existence by the mid-1860s.
