Geocache Description:

From this Overlook Trail you have a perfect view of the Schoharie Aqueduct. Although it's not completely intact, you can imagine what it may have looked like in times gone by. There are photos and details in the Visitor Center if you want to know more.

This place was one of the first Historic Sites I visited when I moved to NY in 1995. My daughter had a field trip to the site and I went along. I was so amazed to see that history happened here! When I was a young girl growing up in Wisconsin, we had studied the Erie Canal and sang the songs that are still sung by children today. It was hard to imagine what we were reading about and the few pictures in our text book did not really give us the whole picture. But coming here and seeing this place where the Canal  and Aqueduct once were made history real. I envied my daughter not just getting to read about this piece of history but to go to it and see it first hand.

The cache has been changed to a micro due to it having been "muggled" several times. PLEASE USE STEALTH! As people can possibly see you from both land and water.
