Geocache Description:

This is the first of a series of caches remembering Little League fields past and present.

This is the first of a series of caches remembering Little League fields past and present.

I was a manager for the North Kingstown American Little League for over 20 years. Over that time there were many changes in the league and many memorable moments.

From this location, to the NE there was a complex of 3 fields. Fields 3, 3A & 3B. Most of the league games took place on these fields. Where you are standing was directly behind home plate of the main field. To the south, quietly tucked away in a small grove was Field 4 (aka Cricket Castle). These fields have been replaced by the growth of Quonset Point and the fields have moved to locations in town.

The difficulty of this cache is low. It is more intended to re-live the memories of the games.

Standing here, no matter what the season, you can probably still feel the excitement of young players as they run onto the field to play.

To quote one of my favorite baseball movies ‘Field of Dreams’:

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
