Geocache Description:

Favorite put-in for this float is at the Butts Road low-water bridge at Bass Canoe Rental. Please keep our precious rivers clean and pack out all trash.

Many people do not realize that the Scotia Bridge take out just downstream is named after the Scotia Iron Works Company that was located just over the ridge. It was a major source of iron ore and metals during the 19th Century. It operated in about 1874.

After the huge flood of June, 2015, while performing maintenance on the existing caches on this stream, I decided to put out additional hides to this phenomenal river trail. In order for the caches to remain in sequential order from beginning to end, when a new cache was hidden between two existing caches, I added an “a” to the previous cache number. I don’t want anyone to have to paddle upstream to get an out of sequence number. Be safe and have fun, as I know you will have an exceptional float on this beautiful little Ozark gem, the Courtois (Coort-a-way) River.

FTF Honors to hightechhillbilly, Congratulations Jason!!
