"Tree House" Brown was a notorious character that actually lived in a tree house over the Huzzah River at Scotia Bridge. He was the first canoe livery in the area in the 1950's until the 70's when others popped up. One could always count on him to shuttle your vehicle in those early days. He was one of the best canoe polers on the rivers. Yes, instead of a paddle, he used a 12 foot pole and pushed his canoe up and down the river while standing in the boat. He became infamous when the County tried to remove him from his tree house, they didn't. His descendents Rose Brown and Dot Brown still run the livery business to this day.
After the huge flood of June, 2015, while performing maintenance on the existing caches on this stream, I decided to put out additional hides to this phenomenal river trail. In order for the caches to remain in sequential order from beginning to end, when a new cache was hidden between two existing caches, I added an “a” to the previous cache number. I don’t want anyone to have to paddle upstream to get an out of sequence number. Be safe and have fun, as I know you will have an exceptional float on this beautiful little Ozark gem, the Courtois (Coort-a-way) River.
FTF Honors to hightechhillbilly, Congratulations Jason!!
