Centennial Heritage Site, Annacis Island 1879 - 1979
Another surprising pices of history we have stumbled upon while caching, and maybe a reason for this laneway of willows in the midst of an industrial park was created.
Named after Francis Annace of the Hudson Bay Company party which camped here breifly in 1824. Patrick Murphy held trhe first land title in Delta, settling here in 1857. He was murdered in 1861. The island was farmed for 100 years and has been developed recently by Grosvenor International into a modern industrial estate.
