The Texas flag is called the “Lone Star Flag” and has three colors: red to represent courage, white to represent liberty, and blue to represent loyalty. It was adopted in 1845 when Texas became a state. The large white star was first used on Texas flags in the 1830s during the battles between Texas and Mexico.

Details about the Lone Star State Series
All caches in the series are located within Jones State Forest. Jones State Forest is open daily during daylight hours only. You can hike, bike, or ride your horse during your caching adventure. Make sure you park in the approved area (N30*13.870, W095*29.910) and sign in. There is a sign-in box near the entrance of parking.
Make sure to bring lots of water, great hiking shoes, snacks, and bug repellant. The entire round trip for the series can be around 8.0 miles, so please be prepared. Hopefully this will be a fun series to do, so bring your caching buddies, dogs, and especially the kiddos. Have fun, be careful, and remember to take plenty of pictures and post them.
