William Mulholland {1855-1935} was in charge of the Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power. He was responsible for building and providing the city's water infrastructure. He designed and supervised the building of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, a 233 mile long system to move water from the Owens Valley to the San Fernando Valley. This creation led to the disputes known as the California Water Wars. In 1928 his career came to an end when the St, Francis Dam failed just 12 hours after he gave it a safety inspection.,.,.,.,
